Inter Milan manager Cristian Chivu praised his team’s performance in tonight’s 2-1 Coppa Italia win over Torino.
Speaking to Sport Mediaset via FCInterNews, the 45-year-old also hailed Inter’s effort to reinforce his squad in the January transfer window.
Despite resting numerous first-team stars, Cristian Chivu guided the Nerazzurri to an important victory at the Stadio Brianteo tonight.
Indeed, goals from Ange-Yoan Bonny and Andy Diouf fired the San Siro giants to the Coppa Italia semi-finals.
Furthermore, Chivu’s men have now won four consecutive games in all competitions, including a 2-0 league triumph at Cremonese last weekend.
However, the Sports Judge has imposed a three-game travel ban on the Nerazzurri fans after the incident in Cremona.
Therefore, Inter will face Sassuolo without their supporters on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Inter finished the January transfer window without a single high-profile signing.
Despite vying for the services of Ivan Perisic and Moussa Diaby, the Serie A leaders ended up empty-handed.

“I don’t give ratings, I don’t play fantasy football, and I’m not a journalist,” Chivu said after the game. “I’m happy with the performance, with what was put on the pitch, with the energy put into a game like this.
“In the final stages, you suffer a bit because the pride of the opposition comes out when they’re 2-1 down, which can cause you problems.
“But they didn’t do that too much.
“We’re all happy with the win and advancing to the next round.”
Asked to comment on Adrien Rabiot’s recent remarks about the Serie A title race, Chivu replied: “We want to be competitive and continue the good work we’ve done in recent years.
“We’re moving forward with conviction, hard work, and good performances, knowing that we can always improve.”
Meanwhile, he explained his decision to bench several first-team stalwarts.
“These are games where you need energy,” Chivu added. “You have to give everything you have based on your energy levels.
“We made our choices based on who had energy; we had to manage our energy considering our January and February schedule.
“Then there are the Under-23 players, I’ll mention Cocchi and Kamate but also Bovo, Topalovic, Alexiou, and Berenbruch.
“I would like to congratulate the managers and staff of the youth teams who have worked with them, and Stefano Vecchi, who is doing a great job with the Under-23s.
“These guys are growing and can also be useful to us this season.”

“A team can always improve regardless of the transfer market,” Chivu admitted.
“There’s always talk about how a team could improve, sometimes it doesn’t work out, but our team is good.
“We tried to do what was asked of us, but the transfer market is tough.
“We have 23-24 players, since Palacios has left; we have these talented guys from the Under-23 team who are helping us out.
“And we want to work hard and continue to fight for the rest of the season.”
Finally, he commented on Inter’s challenging fixture schedule.
“I’m never worried, I like to play,” Chivu continued. “As a player, I liked it more than training.
“Ambition must never be lacking at Inter, but it shouldn’t be confused with obsession because expectations create disappointment.
“We work hard to be ready, we’ve always shown that. These guys are always ready to help us out.”
