For starters, Doveri didn’t book Juan Jesus for a reckless tackle on Marcus Thuram in the first half.

Despite kicking the Frenchman in the chest, the former Nerazzurri defender didn’t show malice.

Therefore, Doveri was correct not to show him a yellow card.

However, there was a huge oversight from one of Italy’s most highly rated referees.

Indeed, he failed to spot Amir Rrahmani’s challenge on Henrikh Mkhitaryan inside Napoli’s penalty area.
