Inter Milan are angry with what they see as “out-of-line” comments by Simone Inzaghi before the Champions League final against PSG.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908.
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi was strongly linked with Al-Hilal in the weeks before the Champions League final.
That was always going to be a distraction for the coach and the team.
There were even reports that Inzaghi had all but accepted a move to Al-Hilal before the final. And so it was natural that the coach would have to address these rumours.
Inzaghi stated that it would be “crazy” to think about Al-Hilal links so close to the Champions League final. And that transfer rumours “don’t exist” in the face of such a big match.
The former Lazio coach confirmed that he intended to discuss his future with Inter after the final.
And Inzaghi suggested that he would stay at the club – if “the conditions were right.”
Therefore, Inzaghi was leaving the door wide open for a move. And he even made clear that he’d received offers “from Italy and abroad.”

According to the Gazzetta, these comments were not something Inter expected.
The Nerazzurri may well have known that Simone Inzaghi was in talks with Al-Hilal. However, that does not mean that they authorized him to give such a wishy-washy, noncommittal response about his future.
Particularly being just a few weeks before the Champions League final, this was neither the time nor the place.
Therefore, the Gazzetta report, there is a lingering sense of bitterness at Inter.
Everyone around the club feels that Inzaghi’s words were “out-of-line.”
This does not mean, of course, that the Nerazzurri would have been guaranteed a different outcome in the final in other circumstances – they were decimated 5-0, after all.
However, Inter feel that Inzaghi’s comments fuelled uncertainty and speculation. And this did not help the team to prepare for the most important match of their season.
