Inter Milan are “all or nothing” in the Champions League final after failing to defend their Serie A title and missing out to Napoli.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight how the Nerazzurri really do risk ending the season with a “handful of nothing.”

Inter Milan did their bit and beat Como in their final match of the Serie A season yesterday.

However, that wasn’t enough. The Nerazzurri’s title rivals Napoli also won their match against Cagliari.

Therefore, the Partenopei held onto their one-point advantage in the table.

The wait goes on for a team to win the Serie A title two seasons in a row, as Inter have once again failed to defend their crown in a race that went down to the final day.

Meanwhile, Inter also failed to win either the Supercoppa Italiana or the Coppa Italia. In both cases, they lost out to their city rivals AC Milan.

But Inter Milan can hardly afford to dwell on how they fell short domestically.

The Nerazzurri face Paris Saint-Germain in one week’s time.

Despite the ups and downs in the league, Inter have been a force to be reckoned with in Europe. They have reached the Champions League final for the second time in three years.

Inter will know that if they do manage to come out on top in the biggest match in European club football next Saturday, then their domestic disappointments will mean little.

However, should the Nerazzurri lose as they did against Manchester City two years ago, there’s no safety net.

Inter have not brought home a single piece of silverware this season.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri can either end the season with the most important trophy in European club football. Or they can do it with nothing.
