It is likely to be a busy summer for Inter Milan, with numerous veteran stars set to leave the club at the end of the current campaign.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri can no longer delay a long-overdue overhaul.
The runaway Serie A leaders have long been relying on players well past their thirties.
However, Oaktree Capital Management is hellbent on changing the club’s long-term transfer policy.
Instead, the Italian giants will build a new era around promising young talents and several long-serving stalwarts.
Still, there will be no room for Stefan de Vrij, Francesco Acerbi, Yann Sommer, and Matteo Darmian in that future.
The time has come for Inter to tackle this delicate matter, and the club can no longer dodge this issue.
Indeed, they’ve already decided not to renew four expiring contracts.
Furthermore, Henrikh Mkhitaryan could follow in the footsteps of his abovementioned teammates.
However, there’s still a chance for the 37-year-old to pen a short-term extension.
Meanwhile, Inter have already identified several potential candidates to replace Sommer in goal.
