Inter Milan talisman Lautaro Martinez continues to break records in Serie A.
According to FCInterNews, last night’s brace against Roma made El Toro the third joint-highest Argentine scorer in Serie A history.
Lautaro Martinez painted his return from injury with flying colors.
Indeed, the 28-year-old opened the scoring in the first minute, setting the tone for Inter’s scintillating 5-2 victory.
Furthermore, the Argentine striker netted his 16th league goal of the season at the start of the second half, effectively ending Roma’s comeback hopes.
In doing so, Lautaro has now scored 15+ goals in five consecutive Serie A seasons.
Lautaro has bagged an eye-catching 173 goals for Inter since joining the club from Racing in the summer of 2018.
Moreover, 131 of those strikes have come in Serie A, where Lautaro has reigned supreme this season. Indeed, he’s the division’s top scorer, having netted five more goals than any other player.
Therefore, Hernan Crespo and Gabriel Batistuta are the only Argentine players to have scored more goals in Italy’s top flight than El Toro.
Meanwhile, Lautaro has drawn level with Roma ace Paulo Dybala.
However, with La Joya struggling with injuries, it’s only a matter of time before the Nerazzurri captain overtakes him in the pecking order.
