Inter CEO Beppe Marotta issued a firm condemnation after a flare was thrown towards Emil Audero during the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win over Cremonese.
The incident risked overshadowing an otherwise comfortable victory and could have consequences regarding access to the Curva Nord for future matches.
At the start of the second half, a flare was thrown from the section of travelling Inter fans.
The pyrotechnic struck the Cremonese goalkeeper, who fell to the floor.
Inter and Cremonese players, including Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez, rushed over to help the 29-year-old.
Speaking to DAZN after the final whistle, Marotta made the club’s position clear.
“We want to stigmatise and condemn what happened,” the Inter president said, with quotes via FCInterNews.

Marotta continued.
“It was a gesture that has nothing to do with the values of sport and the values we try to uphold. The disappointment is not only mine, but also that of Inter fans and our players, who were upset by it.”
Marotta stressed that the club expects those responsible to be identified.
“Condemnation is obvious. The authorities are carrying out investigations and it seems to have been an isolated act. Those responsible will certainly be found.”
Audero spent the 2023-24 season on loan with Inter.
He played four times in Serie A as the Nerazzurri earned their second star.
Marotta also praised Audero’s reaction during the match.
“I want to acknowledge the great professionalism of Audero, who with his composure continued to defend his goal until the end. It was serious behaviour that we appreciate.”
Indeed, Marotta concluded with a final, unequivocal message.
“There remains an explicit and concrete condemnation from all of Inter for what happened.”
