Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that his team cannot hide their ambition for trophies in 2025.

The Nerazzurri coach gave his thoughts in a press conference after yesterday’s 3-0 Serie A win against Cagliari, as reported by FCInterNews.

Inter ended 2024 in exactly the way they’d have hoped to.

The Nerazzurri have been a relentless force in Serie A for much of the year. They clinched last season’s title in dominant fashion, and are staking their claim to make it two in a row this time out.

Inter have also reached the Coppa Italia quarterfinals after last season’s disappointing early elimination.

And the next week, the Nerazzurri take on Atalanta in the Supercoppa Italiana. That’s a trophy Inter have won in each of the past three seasons.

In the Champions League, meanwhile, Inter have one foot in the round of sixteen. Even in spite of their first major European setback of the campaign against Bayer Leverkusen.

In the knockouts, few would bet against Inter making another run to the Champions League final – or even winning it.

Then at the end of the season, there’s the uncharted territory of the newly-expanded Club World Cup format.

Simone Inzaghi: “Inter Have To Reach For The Biggest Goals In 2025”

After yesterday’s win over Cagliari, Inzaghi said that “I thank the fans, who were here with us today as well.”

“2024 is a year that will forever unite us all,” the Inter coach beamed. “The guys, the fans, the club.”

“The second star will always remain in everyone’s hearts,” Inzaghi said, of Inter’s twentieth ever Serie A title triumph.

“But now it’s a wonderful memory that must stay in the past.”

“Now, 2025 begins,” Inzaghi said. “We have to reach for the biggest goals, as is only right for Inter.”

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri coach said that he “congratulated” his team on their performance against Cagliari yesterday.

“They needed a great performance. And that’s what they did.”

“Cagliari are an organized team,” Inzaghi noted. “We needed a great Inter performance.”

The Inter coach argued that Cagliari “didn’t deserve to lose their last three matches.”

“We knew they were a team with spirit, and they play in a stadium that can always make it hard for you.”

“Now we have to keep going like this,” Inzaghi said. “We’ll leave 2024 behind us with pride, and from tomorrow we turn our attention to the Supercoppa.”

And the Inter coach admitted that captain Lautaro Martinez “wasn’t happy” about his scoring drought, which he ended emphatically against Cagliari yesterday.

“But he looked calm to me. He was doing his best in training.”

“He has to keep going like this,” Inzaghi went on of Martinez. “Because he’s our captain.”

“He has to guide us. Now, he’s returned to scoring, but he’ll always be important for us.”

Inzaghi noted that even with Martinez’s recent barren patch in front of goal “We still won ten of the last twelve matches in the league.”

“Aside from the goal he just has to keep doing what he’s been doing,” the Inter coach said. “Because he’s been doing the same job as always with his teammates.”

“When you work hard for the team, sometimes you’re not clinical. But the team will always put him in a position to succeed.”
