Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is ready to name a full-strength starting eleven for Monday’s Serie A match against Lazio.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter face a huge match in the context of their season next Monday.
The Nerazzurri are coming off the back of a big setback in the form of a loss to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. But they can hardly dwell on that.
Inter’s return to Serie A action comes against a direct rival for the title.
Inter travel to Rome to face Lazio. They are currently level on points with the Biancocelesti, albeit with a game in hand.
There is a strong feeling that Monday’s match could have a decisive impact in the title race, and not just for Inter and Lazio. Atalanta, Napoli, and Fiorentina will certainly be watching closely too.
Against Leverkusen, Inter coach Inzaghi made a few changes to the starting lineup.
That has more or less been the pattern this season.
The Nerazzurri has given certain players the chance to start more in Europe than domestically.
This has also allowed Inzaghi to keep key starters fresh. He hardly wants to burn players out by starting them twice a week for months at a time.
That had largely worked for Inter, at least until this week. The Nerazzurri managed a draw and four wins with Inzaghi’s approach.
But there was a sense that perhaps the coach tinkered too much on Tuesday against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.
Inter put in a flat performance, not looking like their usual selves.
But there will be no such excuse on Monday. Inzaghi will return all the starters to the lineup, going with what he sees as more or less the strongest available eleven.
The Gazzetta predict the following Inter starting eleven:
Inter (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro
