Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi says there is “no alarm” for the fitness of Lautaro Martinez, but that Piotr Zielinski “could be out for a while.”
The Nerazzurri coach spoke in a press conference after yesterday’s 3-2 Serie A win over Monza, as reported by FCInterNews. He gave mixed updates on the squad after that dramatic comeback.
Inter Milan took three big points in Serie A yesterday. And they did so in dramatic circumstances, coming back from two goals down to beat bottom-of-the-table Monza.
However, it was not without a cost to the Nerazzurri squad.
This is now the point in the season when the fixture list can really begin to take its toll.
That is evident in the injury list that is growing for many teams. Particularly if, like Inter, they remain fully active on all fronts.
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi gave updates on a couple players after yesterday’s match.
“Lautaro was feeling some fatigue,” he noted. “But there’s no need for alarm.”

But as far as why Piotr Zielinski needed to come off just a couple minutes after entering the pitch as a substitute, Inzaghi said that “Zielinwski felt something in his calf.”
“He’ll need to undergo medical tests. But I think we’ll lose him for a while.”
Meanwhile, Inzaghi gave his thoughts on the comeback win over Monza yesterday. “We had a great second half,” he said.
“In the first half we clearly should have avoided conceding the first goal,” he added. “We all needed to do better on that.”
“But we did well not to fall apart,” the Inter coach said.
“We knew there was time. And the substitutions helped us.”
Inzaghi added that “the guys were great, they deserved this big win.”
Meanwhile, the Inter coach called substitute Joaquin Correa “a versatile player.”
“He also showed that with me at Lazio,” Inzaghi added.
The Nerazzurri coach said that “when [Correa] came on we wanted to go to 3-4-3.”
“But then we scored. And all the forwards helped us out, even Lautaro despite him suffering from some fatigue.”
“We have to keep going like this,” Inzaghi made clear.
