Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that his team “needed to better with our chances” in their 1-1 Serie A draw with Monza yesterday.

Inzaghi reacted to the match in a press conference afterwards, as reported by FCInterNews.

Inter had to settle for a point on their return from the international break.

The Nerazzurri took on Monza, with clashes with Manchester City and AC Milan just on the horizon.

Inter coach Inzaghi rotated his team significantly in view of those matches.

But neither the regular starters nor the players to come into the lineup were able to play to the necessary level.

In the first half, Inter started relatively brightly, but then the pace dropped off quite a bit.

Monza went ahead in the second, through substitute Dany Mota. Then, Inter managed to respond to salvage a point, but not find a winner.

Inter Coach Inzaghi: “We Needed To Do Better With Our Chances” Vs Monza

After the match, Inter coach Inzaghi said that “We lacked the goal early on.”

“It would have been easier if we’d unlocked the match. We got off to a good start.”

Inzaghi remarked that “We were up against a team that defended well. It wasn’t easy.”

“We created chances for Lautaro and Dimarco, but didn’t make the most of them.”

“After that we started to slip up,” Inzaghi said. “We were trying to put players in on goal when we should have shot.”

The Inter coach said that “In the second half we didn’t create chances like in the first half.”

“Then when we switched to having three forwards, we conceded a great goal from Dany Mota which made it difficult for us.”

“The team reacted,” Inzaghi continued “We scored, and almost went ahead through Frattesi.”

“We’re not satisfied with a draw,” Inzaghi added. “We have to keep working and recovering because we have a lot of matches to come.”

“Monza were excellent in the defensive phase,” he said. “They tried to concede very little.”

“But we should have been better and more clinical with the chances we had in the first half.”
