As Inter Milan’s attack continues to fire, their defensive shape has finally begun to stabilise under Cristian Chivu as the Nerazzurri prepare for key tests against Roma and Napoli.

As reported by the Corriere dello Sport, the turning point came after the match against Juventus, when Chivu adjusted the team’s overall structure to restore balance and solidity.

“From there, Chivu reworked the entire setup to give the team the equilibrium it needed,” the report notes.

“With a few tactical tweaks and improved fitness levels, he reversed the trend.”

Since that defeat, Inter have conceded just two goals in five matches, one against Sassuolo and another versus Cremonese, while keeping three clean sheets.

This is a stark contrast to the successive defeats to Juventus and Udinese that enabled a shaky start to the season.

The upcoming trips to Roma and Napoli will serve as sterner tests, but confidence is growing at Appiano Gentile.

Next week, the Nerazzurri face Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League.

“In the next 180 minutes, Chivu wants confirmation of this progress – both in Serie A and in Europe,” adds Corsport.

“Inter have yet to concede in two Champions League matches, and the coach is chasing a third clean sheet against Union Saint-Gilloise to prove his work is paying off.”
