The 29-year-old sustained an injury during Inter’s 2-0 home win over Lazio on the eve of the November international break.

Despite being released from the national team by Ronald Koeman, Dumfries has yet to regain full fitness.

Therefore, he missed the Milan derby and Inter’s last Champions League match against Atletico Madrid.

Furthermore, Luis Henrique took his place in Sunday’s 2-0 win at Pisa and failed to impress.

With that in mind, Dumfries’ return to the squad cannot come soon enough for the Nerazzurri.

However, Cristian Chivu is unlikely to have his starting wingback at his disposal until late December.

Meanwhile, Denzel Dumfries made Serie A’s Best XI for the 2024/25 season, attending last night’s ceremony to receive the award.

“We’re strong,” Dumfries said. “Indeed, we’ve played together for many years, and we’re always working to improve.

“We’re a family,” the Dutch ace was adamant.

Then, Dumfries addressed his recovery process.

“I hope to recover in two to three weeks,” he added. “I’m working hard and want to come back as soon as possible.”

With Dumfries on the sidelines and Henrique underperforming, Chivu could turn to Andy Diouf as a makeshift solution.

Indeed, the French midfielder replaced Henrique against Pisa and excelled on the right wing.

Meanwhile, Carlos Augusto remains an option for Inter, though the Brazilian faltered in the Milan derby.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri could return to the market in January to strengthen the right wing.
