But aside from this addition, Simone Inzaghi’s defensive department should remain intact for the upcoming campaign.

However, next summer could witness a more significant change, explains Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews.

The Roman newspaper notes that Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij are both running on expiring contracts.

The Italian veteran is currently 36 years of age, while the Dutchman is 32.

So as the source tells it, Inter are unlikely to keep them both at the club beyond the summer of 2025.

While this could mostly hinge on their physical condition, the report tips the Nerazzurri to replace at least one of them.

This would make room for a new central defender who could well be Bijol.

The Slovenia international has been plying his trade at Udinese since making the move from CSKA Moscow two years ago.

The 25-year-old immediately established himself as a regular starter in Friuli, playing at the very center of the back-three defense.

Therefore, Bijol would be able to fit in smoothly within Inzaghi’s tactical system.

However, it remains to be seen if the player will be available by next year. Recent reports suggested that Bologna are looking to sign him this summer.

Despite his relatively young age, the defender is vastly experienced at the international level. He has already made 54 caps for the Slovenian national team, scoring a single goal in the process.

Bijol was also one of the protagonists in Slovenia’s impressive Euro 2024 run.

The centre-back’s contract with Udinese is valid until 2027.
