Inter are now right on the verge of signing defender Palacios.

The 21-year-old is completing his medicals today, and then should put pen to paper on a five-year contract today.

Palacios is the player Inter have decided to make their defensive reinforcement for the summer.

The Nerazzurri have been looking for a left-sided defender for over a month now.

There have been a couple of boxes that Inter have been trying to check.

First and foremost, Inter want a clear backup to Alessandro Bastoni. With Tajon Buchanan out of action for the foreseeable future, they do not see Carlos Augusto as available to fill that role.

Then, Nerazzurri owners Oaktree Capital have made it clear that they want a young player with room to grow and potential resale value.

Inter Hoping Tomas Palacios Follows Similar Path To Yann Bisseck

Oaktree’s mandate to sign a young defender already has a sort of precedent from last summer.

Inter signed defender Yann Bisseck from Aarhus twelve months ago.

The fee on the deal was similar to that for e. And he arrived at the age of 22.

Bisseck had impressed in the Danish top flight prior to joining Inter. And he had also cemented himself as the captain of Germany’s Under-21 side.

But Bisseck was hardly ready to immediately make an impact at the level of Serie A.

Therefore, the German spent the first few months of last season working in training to adjust to life at Inter.

But in the winter, Bisseck took his opportunity.

Now, the German would certainly be worth far more than Inter paid for him.

And the Nerazzurri are hoping it will be a similar story with Palacios.

The Argentine is not exactly going to be a regular in the Inter starting eleven. But there will be opportunities for him, with the Nerazzurri fighting on multiple fronts.

And when Palacios does manage to play, there is a clear path for him to emulate, in the form of Bisseck.
