Serie A giants Inter Milan are desperate to avoid another trophyless season after their ‘treble’ dream fell apart in the late stages of 2024/25.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the 20-time Italian champions have identified a 21st Scudetto as their top target for 2025/26.

The club couldn’t forgive Simone Inzaghi for putting Inter’s title hopes in Serie A at risk to pursue Jose Mourinho’s famous 2010 feat.

Indeed, the Nerazzurri ended up empty-handed despite being in contention for a historic ‘treble’ in mid-April.

New boss Cristian Chivu would be wise not to replicate his predecessor’s mistakes.

After Tuesday’s 3-1 home loss to Arsenal, Inter’s chances of securing a second consecutive direct last-16 qualification in the Champions League are in tatters.

Therefore, Chivu should focus on maintaining Inter’s three-point lead over bitter rivals AC Milan at Serie A’s table summit.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri will also take on Torino in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals at the beginning of February.

With that in mind, Chivu must set his priorities straight to avoid Inzaghi’s fate.
