Inter Milan legend Beppe Bergomi has urged the club to address one major shortcoming in the transfer window.
Speaking to Radio Anch’io Lo Sport via FCInterNews, Bergomi discussed Inter’s recent performances.
Cristian Chivu failed to win his first trophy in charge of the Nerazzurri as Bologna ended his Supercoppa Italiana quest.
Indeed, the Rossoblu squeezed past the San Siro giants after a nervy penalty shootout in the semi-finals.
However, there’s no room for complacency, as Chivu’s men boast a narrow one-point lead over second-placed AC Milan.
Furthermore, reigning holders Napoli trail the Nerazzurri by a single point.
Therefore, this shapes up to be the most dramatic Scudetto race in recent memory.
Meanwhile, Bergomi has identified one area Inter must look to strengthen in January.
With Denzel Dumfries out injured, Inter’s attacks have become one-dimensional.
Luis Henrique has failed to meet expectations, forcing Chivu’s side to attack mostly on the left wing.

“Regarding Inter, I have my own view,” Bergomi said. “In recent years, they’ve never been the strongest, but they’ve always been very capable.
“When they play well, everyone notices.
“However, structural flaws appear that prevent them from beating others in head-to-head matches, even though they remain strong and top of Serie A.
“Losing to Bologna is understandable because they play well and their coach is a ‘copetero’.
“This year, Inter has fought in the league against Napoli, who are strong and have strengthened.
“PSG won in the final. For me, Inter is following its own path; they’ve changed the coach, and the squad is aging. Patience is needed.
“In midfield, they have everyone playing like a number ten, good at passing. That’s why the summer target was Koné.
“Up front, they need a one-on-one player, and at the back a fast defender who allows you to play with a high line.
“These are the club’s choices. Right now, without Dumfries, Luis Henrique has done well in some matches, but we’re still waiting for him.
“It’s not the same. The team attacks only down the left. They’re missing more than just Calhanoglu, because Zielinski is performing very well.”
Finally, he praised Chivu.
“I think Chivu is communicating well and wants to get everyone in shape,” Bergomi added.
However, he insists Inter must sign a few players in January.
“I understand the financial interests,” he continued. ‘It ends up adding two extra games, then the January fixture congestion, when you could be charging the team up, and instead you’re playing.
