Inter Milan could resort to the market following Tajon Buchanan’s injury, but Marcos Alonso and Layvin Kurzawa are not enticing enough options.

Unfortunately for Buchanan, he sustained a serious injury while on duty with the Canadian national team that is currently participating in the Copa America.

The 25-year-old could be out between four to five months as he recovers from a tibia fracture.

The wingback underwent successful surgery yesterday.

But according to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Italian champions will be pondering their options as they seek a temporary replacement.

The management will hold a summit next week which will also include head coach Simone Inzaghi. The possibility of replacing Buchanan will be one of the main topics.

The Canadian is originally a right winger, but Inzaghi deployed him on the left following his arrival in January.

He’s been acting as an understudy to Federico Dimarco, while Carlos Augusto is being fielded as part of the back three.

The Nerazzurri could be seeking an affordable solution. After all, they wouldn’t want to splash their transfer kit on a backup option.

But as the Roman newspaper explains, options like Alonso and Kurzawa haven’t convinced the management.

The 33-year-old Spaniard is now a free agent after seeing out his contract with Barcelona. He previously had spells at Fiorentina and Chelsea.

Likewise, Kurzawa is now available for free after ending a nine-year collaboration with Paris Saint-Germain. The 31-year-old was once a promising left-back, but he dropped down the pecking order in recent years.

Therefore, Inter could also keep an eye on possible loan options or perhaps target players that are surplus to requirements at other big clubs.

Another option could be Bologna’s Dan Ndoye. However, the 23-year Switzerland international won’t come cheap, especially following his recent exploits at Euro 2024.
