Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi backed up Lautaro Martinez after yet another scoring blank in last night’s match against Lazio.

Speaking to Inter TV after the game via FCInterNews, Inzaghi praised the Argentine’s effort despite another scoreless outing.

Though Martinez wasn’t on the scoresheet, Inter humbled Lazio 6-0 at the Stadio Olimpico.

Hakan Calhanoglu converted a first-half penalty to put the Nerazzurri in front.

From there, Inter assumed complete control of the proceedings.

“Our quality gradually came through, and unlocking the game made it easier for us,” Inzaghi said.

“These are numbers that need to be interpreted and understood.

“We must continue and not stop because the others are also running.”

Inter were clinical in front of goal against their fellow Scudetto rivals.

Federico Dimarco, Nicolo Barella, Denzel Dumfries, Carlos Augusto, and Marcus Thuram followed up on Calhanoglu’s opener.

“It shows that we’re in good shape,” Inzaghi continued. “We prepared well for the game in just four days.

“We came off the match on Tuesday with a disappointing return, but Lazio also struggled in their cup match.”

Beating Lazio re-established Inter as the leading Scudetto candidates despite a three-point deficit on Atalanta.

“We really wanted it, it was important, and we achieved it with determination,” Inzaghi was clear.

“We’re happy, but tomorrow we’ll be back at work because there’s another game on Thursday and another on Monday.

“We’ll analyze this one, focus on the things we did well, and correct the things we didn’t.”

Finally, Inzaghi assessed Martinez’s performance.

El Toro failed to score, but his work ethic was commendable.

“He was excellent,” Inzaghi claimed.

“I don’t want to focus on individual performances, but I’d like to talk about the great group I have.

“Lautaro played a great game and helped us a lot. The fact that he didn’t score is absolutely not a problem.”
