“It’s a club that opened the doors to major competitions and the national team. It’s a great club – when I was little, I followed Brazilian Inter players like Adriano, Maicon, and Julio Cesar. Now, for me, stepping onto the pitch with this shirt is an honour.”

The 26-year-old has 2 appearances for the Brazil national team.

However, he has not played for the Seleção since 2023 but has converted his good club form into an international call-up recently.

Augusto also praised his coach: “Chivu made history at Inter, he was a great player and now he’s a great coach. He knows how to make the group feel good – we have total respect for him.”

And if he could take one quality from a teammate? “I’d take Barella’s first touch and football intelligence.”
