Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zielinski took personal responsibility for his struggles last season after the 1–0 win over Atalanta, while also highlighting his improved condition and renewed confidence under Cristian Chivu.

Speaking in the post-match press conference following the victory in Bergamo, Piotr Zielinski first clarified his substitution during the second half. “I’m fine, I had a cramp,” he explained.

“I informed the staff and they decided to take me off. I don’t know if it was my best match, but I try to give my contribution.”

Asked what message Inter had sent with the win, Zielinski stressed focus and internal belief. “We have to do our job and try to win as many matches as possible,” he said.

“What the newspapers write doesn’t interest us much, because we know our value. At the moment we’re top, but there are still a lot of matches to play. We have to stay focused and always give our maximum.”

The discussion then turned to his personal form and the perception that Chivu has revitalised him. Zielinski did not shy away from responsibility.

“Of course, the responsibility was above all mine,” he admitted. “I didn’t arrive in the best condition, with those famous blisters,” he added with a laugh. “Injuries, serious and less serious, affected me, but that’s all behind me now.”

The Polish international concluded by underlining his mindset going forward. “I’m thinking about what I can give to the team. Now you’re seeing the best version of me.”
