21-year-old Argentina youth team international Palacios is now officially an Inter player.

There was a bit of a nervous wait in the last few days of the transfer window.

The Nerazzurri had to wait upon Argentine clubs Talleres and Independiente Rivadivia to sort out the bureaucratic details of the move, considering their co-ownership situation of Palacios.

But on deadline day, Inter got the deal over the line.

Palacios joined Inter, ready to reinforce the Nerazzurri’s defense.

The Nerazzurri have signed Palacios as a backup for Alessandro Bastoni on the left of their back three.

Inter believe that the 21-year-old has the right profile to do so. And his age was a key factor, as Nerazzurri owners Oaktree Capital wanted to invest in a young player with room to grow.

Tomas Palacios To Take Next Two Weeks To Get Up To Speed At Inter

The move to Inter is a massive step for Palacios.

Whilst the Argentine has impressed in his own domestic league, Serie A and the Champions League will be an altogether different level for him.

And Palacios will certainly be playing with a different calibre of teammates.

The role that Bastoni has in Inter’s back three will be a tough one for Palacios to fit into.

And the pace of play that the Nerazzurri employ is not likely to be very familiar to the 21-year-old.

But the timing of the move means that Palacios will have a great chance to find his feet.

Right away, Inter have two weeks to rest and train during the international break.

Meany of the Nerazzurri’s squad are away with their national teams. But plenty of players are staying back in training.

That means that Palacios will have a brief period of adjustment to work with his new teammates and with Inter coach Simone Inzaghi to start to grasp the tactics and style of play.
