This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the 21-year-old’s medicals are set, having had his loan at River Plate cut short unexpectedly.

21-year-old wingback Carboni is a player whose future has been in some flux this season.

The Argentine had spent the first half of last season on loan with Monza in Serie A. Then over the second half of the campaign he was at Ternana in the second division.

During the 2022-23 season, Carboni was on loan at Cagliari in Serie B.

And this time around, it looked as though a return to his native Argentina was on the cards for Carboni for this season.

Argentine giants River Plate signed the 21-year-old on loan. The deal also contained a purchase option.

Carboni’s time at River Plate did not last very long at all, though.

Former Manchester City and Bayern Munich defender Martin Demichelis had been River’s head coach when they decided to sign the 21-year-old.

However, the Argentine club parted ways with Demichelis. They reappointed Mauricio Gallardo as their coach.

And while Carboni had been in the plans of Demichelis, Gallardo did not want him in the squad.

Therefore, River and Inter agreed an early termination of Carboni’s loan before the young wingback had made a single appearance for the club.

Therefore, Inter and Carboni were left looking for a new solution for the Argentine’s future this summer.

And it was Venezia who stepped forward with an interest in signing Carboni.

The Lagunari have already signed one Inter player this summer, in the form of Gatenao Oristanio. He joined on a permanent basis, having been on loan at Cagliari last campaign.

And Venezia are on the verge of bringing in a second player from Inter.

Sky report that Carboni will undergo his medicals and sign his contract with the newly-promoted club tomorrow.
