Midfielder Piotr Zielinski joined Inter Milan from Napoli last summer.

The Polish international joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer after his contract with the Partenopei had expired.

Zielinski joined with the reputation as one of the top midfielders in Serie A after eight years at Napoli, as well as impressive spells with Udinese and Empoli.

However, Zielinski has not just won plaudits for his accomplishments on the pitch. He has also gained admirers for some of his actions off of it.

Zielinski’s father Boguslaw explained that his family took in foster children when the midfielder was young.

“Piotr was eight years old at the time,” he said. “And he didn’t quite understand why there were new children in the house.”

“I think he felt a bit rejected because of it.”

However, over time, Zielinski began to understand why his family were taking the children in. And in 2015, he funded the purchase of two buildings which were transformed into orphanages.

The player’s father explained that “we still run two orphanages.”

“We have twenty children under our care,” he said.

“Piotr doesn’t need to be involved. We make sure that he doesn’t.”

“But if we need help, we know that we can turned to him,” he added.

Meanwhile, a resident of the town where the orphanage is notes that “every time he comes here, he cares for the children.”

“He goes for walks, plays with them, and of course, plays football.”

“Piotr also pays for the children’s vacations and extracurricular activities,” the resident noted.
