Santiago Castro has left the door ever so slightly ajar over his future amid reported Inter Milan interest, insisting he is fully focused on Bologna but acknowledging that the transfer market always holds surprises.

The Argentina striker has attracted attention from several European clubs this season.

Especially after a standout campaign in Serie A.

Indeed, with Inter among those credited with interest in recent months.

When pressed by Gazzetta dello Sport on whether he would commit to staying at Bologna for at least another year, Castro was careful not to overcommit.

“There are two months left until the end of the season and at Bologna I feel incredible. Like I’m in a real family,” he said, with quotes via FCIN.

“So today I am only thinking about this family. I don’t want to say ‘I’ll stay for many more years’ and then look like someone who talks just for the sake of talking.”

He then delivered the line that will keep the speculation alive.

“In the transfer market you never know,” Castro said.

“And besides, I should remind you that I renewed my contract not long ago.”

The renewal does reduce the likelihood of any imminent departure and gives Bologna leverage in any potential sale.

Castro is clearly settled and happy in Emilia.

And, therefore, any move would require a significant financial commitment from an interested club.

For Inter, who need a striker capable of competing with and complementing Lautaro Martinez, Castro’s profile remains an attractive one.

For now, though, he belongs to Bologna.

And both parties seem content to keep it that way, at least until the summer window forces the conversation.
