Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi will start the same team against Atalanta as he did against Cagliari.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They also report that Matteo Darmian will be back on the bench.
Inter begin 2025 with a Supercoppa Italiana match.
The Nerazzurri take on Atalanta in the semifinal of the competition this evening. Then, they could face either AC Milan or Juventus in the final on Monday.
This will be Inter’s first chance to win silverware in the 2024-25 season.
Inter have won the Supercoppa in each of the past three seasons.
According to the Gazzetta, Inter coach Inzaghi will not be tinkering with his team.
The Nerazzurri coach is determined to reach the final of the Supercoppa yet again. Therefore, he is hardly thinking about squad rotation.
That means that Inzaghi will use the same starting eleven as he did in Inter’s Serie A match against Cagliari over the weekend.
The likes of Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard are still out with injuries.
However, Matteo Darmian is back in the squad after recovering from a knee problem.
But Darmian will only be on the bench this evening, reports the Gazzetta. Denzel Dumfries will keep his place at right-wingback ahead of the former Manchester United veteran.
The Gazzetta’s complete predicted starting eleven for the clash is as follows:
Inter (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro
