Inter Milan will aim to keep their strong scoring run going when they welcome Cagliari to the San Siro on Friday night in Serie A.
The Nerazzurri sit comfortably at the top of the table with 75 points, while Cagliari are down in 16th place on 33 points and still battling near the bottom.
Inter come into this match in impressive attacking form. They recently pulled off a dramatic 4–3 comeback win away at Como after being two goals down. Before that, they secured a convincing 5–2 victory over Roma at home. Although they had a short dip in March, Chivu’s team is unbeaten in their last nine league games at the San Siro.
Inter will have to cope without captain Lautaro Martínez, who is out with a thigh injury.
Their defence is also weakened, with Yann Bisseck sidelined due to a muscle issue and Alessandro Bastoni being rested as a precaution.
Midfielder Petar Sucic will miss the game through suspension after picking up too many yellow cards.
These absences could lead to opportunities for Stefan de Vrij to start in defence and Ange-Yoan Bonny to feature in attack in place of either Marcus Thuram or Francesco Pio Esposito.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan may also return to the starting lineup in place of Piotr Zielinski as part of the midfield rotation.
Possible Inter Milan starting XI: Sommer; Akanji, Acerbi, De Vrij; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Bonny
The match will kick off at 7:45pm BST on Friday, 17th April.
