Inter Milan and Liverpool will face each other in a mammoth Champions League showdown tomorrow.

After losing to Atletico Madrid last time out, the Nerazzurri will be out to get their pursuit of a coveted top-eight finish back on track.

Furthermore, the hosts head into proceedings in a buoyant mood after winning three consecutive domestic fixtures.

Cristian Chivu oversaw a thumping 4-0 Serie A win over Como, only a few days after Inter hammered Venezia 5-1 in the Coppa Italia.

Meanwhile, Liverpool slumped to yet another disturbing result last weekend, drawing 3-3 at Leeds United.

Winless in five of their last six competitive matches, the Reds are reportedly entertaining the prospect of sacking Arne Slot.

Therefore, the Dutchman will be under unprecedented pressure on Tuesday night.

“It’s Liverpool, one of the most decorated clubs in the world, a team with big ambitions every year in every competition,” Chivu said.

“They won the Premier League, they started well this season, and then had a dip. But those are normal moments in a season.

“Considering what they represent as a club and as a squad…

“They have players who know how to read moments, who can raise their level in the games that matter, and tomorrow is one of those.”

Meanwhile, Chivu refused to talk about Mohamed Salah’s situation at Anfield.

“I don’t talk about other teams’ problems. We also have our own issues and questions to answer.

“Obviously, Momo is a world-class player, but that concerns them, not us.”

Then, he addressed Manuel Akanji’s fitness condition.

“Akanji – I don’t know. He’s not well, and we sent him home. And I’m not answering any quiz.

“Who’s playing on the right? Chivu.”

Finally, Chivu spoke about Inter’s impressive form.

“Your form is determined by the match you’re about to play, not the last one you played – always the next one.

“We’re coming off a good period, we’re confident, and we’re also trying to raise our own level because it’s December.

“And we’re working toward that.

“We don’t need any certificate. We need consistency, points, and the things that allow us to stay competitive.”
