Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu will rest stars Yann Sommer and Alessandro Bastoni in tonight’s clash against Sassuolo.

This comes from the Corriere dello Sport today, as they predict Chivu’s starting eleven at San Siro.

The newspaper claim that Chivu will give Spaniard Josep Martinez a chance in goal for Inter.

Fans and press called for Sommer to be dropped after his poor display in last weekend’s 4-3 loss to Juventus.

The Swiss international stayed in goal against Ajax and repaid his coach’s faith in him with a stellar performance.

However, now Martinez will likely make his first appearance of the season against Sassuolo.

The Corriere also claim that Chivu will rest centre-back Alessandro Bastoni.

In his place, the newspaper predict that Brazilian Carlos Augusto will drop into the back-three.

The defender typically plays on the flank but Chivu will reportedly test the player on the left-side of the three-man defence.

The Corriere report that Petar Sucic will return to the starting eleven and Chivu may not risk captain Lautaro Martinez.

Martinez missed the win over Ajax due to back pain but has returned to full training this week.

However, the Italian paper claim the Romanian will take no risks and Lautaro could start from the bench.

In his place, youngster Francesco Pio Esposito could once again partner Marcus Thuram.
