Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram has urged his teammates not to underestimate tonight’s Coppa Italia rivals Venezia.

Speaking to Sport Mediaset via FCInterNews, Thuram reminded the Nerazzurri of last season’s game at this stadium.

Venezia failed to preserve their Serie A status last term.

However, they gave Inter a run for their money at San Siro, with Simone Inzaghi’s side claiming a narrow 1-0 win.

Furthermore, the 20-time Italian champions had to survive a late VAR scare, as Verona netted an invalid equalizer.

Nevertheless, Inter head into proceedings as heavy favorites, aiming to lock down a place in the Round of 16.

Cristian Chivu saw his side recover from back-to-back defeats to AC Milan and Atletico Madrid last weekend.

Indeed, Lautaro Martinez notched up a second-half brace to inspire his team to a 2-0 victory at Pisa.

As for Thuram, he was in the starting lineup but failed to make an impact before being taken off in the second half.

“We need to put in a serious performance,” Thuram said. “They were in Serie A last year.

“They haven’t lost many players, and we beat them 1-0 last season.

“Therefore, it will be a tough match that we must approach with the right attitude.”

Asked how he feels after recovering from a long-term injury, Thuram replied: “Good, I’m trying to give my best to get back to my level.”

Then, he heaped praise on Francesco Pio Esposito.

“Pio is a modern striker, a focal point who can play around me just as I can play around him.

“We’re happy to have him in the team.”

Meanwhile, speaking to InterTV via FCInterNews, Thuram reiterated Inter’s ambition to win every trophy.“Like in every other competition, we are Inter,” he stated.

“When we start a competition, we give our absolute best, and that’s what we’ll do tonight as well.”

“Like every match,” Thuram replied when asked how Inter should approach tonight’s game.

“We’ve prepared for it in the best possible way. It’s true that last year it was quite tough against them.

“It will be a complicated game again today.

“Every player in the squad is important and has a very important role in the team, and we help each other.
