Inter Milan are keeping a close eye on developments at Roma as three players they have been linked with remain without new contracts, and a significant power shift at the Giallorossi club could reshape the entire picture.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, Gian Piero Gasperini is set to assume full control at Roma following Claudio Ranieri’s expected departure from his senior advisor role.
That shift could influence which players the club choose to retain.
Lorenzo Pellegrini, out of contract in June, has publicly backed Gasperini.
And, indeed, declared willingness to accept a significant wage cut from his current €6 million net per season.
That stance has impressed the coach and renewal talks could restart shortly.
However, Pellegrini’s situation is just one of several Inter monitor closely.
Gianluca Mancini and Bryan Cristante both have contracts expiring in 2027.
And both were close to three-year extensions before Roma’s ownership postponed all renewal decisions until June following a mixed run of results.
Indeed, Celik’s situation is the most straightforward from Inter’s perspective.
The Turkey international is demanding €4 million per season.
It is a figure Roma consider excessive. No agreement is in sight.
Therefore, if Celik cannot agree terms with Roma, Inter could move for him on a free transfer.
Indeed, a financially attractive option for a wing-back with Serie A and international pedigree.
Furthermore, Stephan El Shaarawy is set to leave, while Paulo Dybala could stay for half his current salary depending on how the season ends.
The summer at Roma will be complex. Inter are watching closely.
