Inter have never lost sight of Curtis Jones throughout the summer, nor have they contemplated other options for their midfield, where they have enough depth and quality already. They are primed to step up their pursuit this week, Corriere dello Sport informs.
Having finally addressed the right wing with the acquisition of Djed Spence, the Nerazzurri can turn their focus toward other roles. The Englishman has been excluded from the recent Liverpool friendlies, officially due to a hip problem. He has sent more than a few signals on social media about his desire to head to San Siro.
Inter are patiently waiting for the Reds to lower their request for Jones, as it’s too high for their liking. They aren’t looking for a massive discount, but they are unlikely to shell out more than €30/35M for him, given his contractual situation.
Such a strategy worked out well for Spence. Tottenham eventually caved since the player wanted to go. He’ll have a more consistent role in Serie A.
As for their other moves, the Nerazzurri are very open to parting ways with Luis Henrique, who’s on Roma’s and a few Premier League sides’ radar. They value him at €25M, and there’s room to maneuver on the formula. If he fled, they would be fine with a cheap signing. They’d target somebody more aggressive in the final third than their last newcomer and Andy Diouf.
The fact that he’s a pure addition, as their midfield would be fine regardless and perhaps the conviction that he’ll join them for free in a year if he doesn’t shortly give them plenty of leverage, but buying from the Premier League remains an onerous endeavor.
