Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones was the subject of a bid from Inter Milan earlier in the summer transfer window, but the Reds believe their valuation was not met.

Per journalists Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook, Inter Milan are preparing another bid for the Liverpool star, who could leave Anfield in search of regular first-team football.

The Reds are reportedly set to hold on to the 25-year-old if suitors fail to match their price tag on the Englishman.

Jones has caught the eye since breaking out at the Merseyside club but struggled to nail down a starting berth, despite his immense qualities.

Of his 34 Premier League outings last season, 16 were as a substitute, deployed in a wide variety of positions.

He is a tidy, progressive midfielder who does not neglect his defensive duties.

Add to that, Jones has also filled in at right-back when needed and can cover several midfield roles. He is a solid footballer at the core.

He is quite an ‘unbelievable‘ talent, but injuries and inconsistencies have plagued his game.

There is no doubt that Jones would kill it if he leaves Liverpool for Italy this summer, and the Reds deserve full compensation for their academy product.

If Inter return with an improved offer that meets Liverpool’s valuation, the club will consider cashing in, but more importantly, the funds must be reinvested wisely.

While Andoni Iraola boasts plenty of quality in advanced midfield areas, Liverpool still don’t have a genuine defensive midfielder capable of shielding the back four.

That has been an obvious weakness at times, particularly against top opposition last season.

Selling Jones would be disappointing given his academy roots, but football decisions must serve the squad as a whole.

A top-class holding midfielder would bring greater balance to the team and ultimately strengthen Liverpool’s chances of competing for the biggest honours this season.
