Inter Milan are prepared to raise their offer for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones to £30 million, although the Reds continue to value the academy graduate at a minimum of £35m.

The Daily Mail reports that Inter have communicated their willingness to pay £30m through intermediaries after an earlier £21.75m bid was rejected by Liverpool. While the gap between the clubs’ valuations has narrowed, no agreement has yet been reached over the 25-year-old’s future.

Jones has entered the final year of his contract at Anfield, making his situation one to watch during the remainder of the transfer window. Despite that, Liverpool are not under immediate pressure to sell and are holding firm on their asking price.

Inter’s long-standing admiration for Jones is no secret. Sporting director Piero Ausilio confirmed earlier this summer that the Serie A club were closely monitoring the midfielder’s situation.

“We are paying attention to him,” Ausilio said. “We didn’t hide. We understand what the developments will be.”

Jones faces increased competition for places in Liverpool’s midfield heading into the new season under Andoni Iraola. Nevertheless, the England international remains part of the club’s first-team plans as the Reds continue preparations for the 2026-27 campaign.

Liverpool are also focused on strengthening other areas of the squad, with negotiations continuing over a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola. At the same time, several fringe players, including Luke Chambers, Lewis Koumas, Calum Scanlon and Ifeanyi Ndukwe, have attracted interest following their performances during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

For Inter, Jones remains one of their preferred midfield targets as they look to strengthen ahead of the new Serie A season. Whether they are willing to meet Liverpool’s valuation could prove decisive, with the Premier League club currently standing firm on their £35m asking price.
