Inter have no doubts about Francesco Pio Esposito’s future, with the club preparing to reward the young forward with a new long-term contract that reflects his rapid progress and growing importance.

Napoli made a serious attempt to lure Pio Esposito away from Inter late last spring, tabling an offer worth €35 million plus bonuses rising to €40m.

However, the bid was swiftly rejected, as the Nerazzurri made it clear that the teenager was considered completely untouchable.

Napoli pursuit and Inter stance on Pio Esposito

Napoli quickly realised there was no opening to negotiate, regardless of the fee involved, as Inter viewed the 2005-born striker as a cornerstone for the future. Club sources have stressed that the player’s so-called “contract shield” isn’t an issue or a media headline – but rather a deserved reward for his performances and maturity.

The upcoming renewal will include an adjustment to Esposito’s current terms, described internally as an automatic step for a player the club believe to be a genuine prodigy. Inter see the deal not as protection from external interest, but as recognition of what they already consider a special talent developing in their ranks.
