Inter U23 finds victory again against Pro Vercelli after 10 matches without a win. Excellent performance by the Nerazzurri who approached the game well and in fact took the lead before the first quarter of an hour: a splendid through ball from Kaczmarski to Amerighi who, after entering the area, shot very hard and, also thanks to the help of the crossbar, beat Livieri. The home team tried to react, but the attempts from Comi and Regonesi did not scare Melgrati. Vecchi’s side, on the other hand, were clinical and just before halftime found the second goal: a sharp corner from David from the right, Alexiou burst to the near post and beat the helpless Livieri again. The first half therefore ended with Inter U23 deservedly having a 2-0 lead. Pro Vercelli returned to the field in the second half with greater determination and in the first 15 minutes of the second half created 3 clear chances. On the first, Melgrati blocked A. Sow’s shot, on the other two the Inter goalkeeper was lucky that Comi and Huiberts sent the ball over the bar from more than favourable positions. The scare woke up Vecchi’s side who went close twice to a third goal with Spinaccè, first with a diagonal shot just wide and then with a sensational crossbar hit from a corner situation. It was an entertaining second half with many chances, in the 71st minute Comi had another one in the heart of the penalty area but Melgrati did very well to stay on his feet until the last moment and make a save. In the final minutes the back-and-forth continued: Comi’s header once again crashed against Melgrati, but it was Inter U23 who had the best chances to make it three with Zuberek who, however, was denied twice one-on-one by Livieri. The Nerazzurri held on in the end and took home the 3 points that had been lacking since January 26, moving up to 45 points and getting back into the playoff zone. The next commitment for Inter U23 was the recovery match of the 34th round against Trento, scheduled for Wednesday April 8 at 15:00 at the U-Power Stadium.
