Wolves are the lowest-ranked side left in the competition. The FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club stole the headlines in the fourth round as they dumped second tier side Reading out of the competition.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Harris highlighted the dangers of underestimating latest opponents Wolves.
“Football has a very nasty habit of kicking you in the teeth when you don’t take things seriously, you don’t do things properly and you don’t respect the opposition,” Harris said.
“We will prepare exactly the same as we prepare for any game and I’m sure that if we turn up and then build on things that we’ve been doing the last couple of games, hopefully, we can pick up the result on Sunday.”
The match comes after Brighton & Hove Albion contested a gruelling 120 minutes against Aston Villa in a FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup quarter-final tie in midweek. The Seagulls eventually lost the tie on penalties. Harris confirmed that squad rotation will be in operation this weekend.
He said “Obviously, playing 120 minutes takes it out of the team. I can honestly say the team’s not picked yet, but I do envision that there will be some changes.”
In an intense three-game week, Harris praised his side for their efforts so far and he believes that everyone is united with the team’s short-term aims.
“It’s been an intense week,” he said. “A three-game week is always a challenge to manage, regardless of the circumstances. Obviously, the circumstances are slightly different to normal, so it’s been intense but both games, you know from the way the players and staff have approached what we’re trying to do with the team, everyone’s buying in. I think that anyone who’s seen the games will see that we’re moving in a really positive direction.”
Brighton & Hove Albion’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie at Wolverhampton Wanderers kicks-off at 1pm on Sunday afternoon.
