Internacional visit Grêmio on Thursday at 20:00 in the Copa do Brasil quarter-final second leg, the first meeting finished 0-0 at Beira-Rio.
Diario Do Peixe notes that Inter, Santos’s next opponents, are expected to be the more tired side. The clubs meet on Sunday at 16:00 at Beira-Rio in the 26th round.
Santos played on Wednesday in the cup, losing to Palmeiras and bowing out of the competition. They must travel from the Baixada Santista to São Paulo, then on to Porto Alegre. The league game is a six-pointer.
Santos are 14th on 29 points with a record of seven wins, eight draws and nine defeats, scoring 34 and conceding 36. Inter sit 18th on 25 points, with five wins, 10 draws and 10 defeats, 26 for and 31 against. A Santos victory would open up a six-point gap.
Lucas Veríssimo and Barreal are suspended after collecting their third yellow card. Both could miss further matches, Veríssimo felt an ankle issue at half-time and the Argentine had discomfort in the first half against Palmeiras.
Neymar Jr also reported thigh discomfort and was replaced at the interval in the midweek clássico. The club are still awaiting the recovery of Gustavo Henrique from a left thigh problem and Gabriel Menino, who is in transition after a left knee sprain.
