Poland national team head coach Jan Urban has revealed his bemusement with the recent injury suffered by star man Robert Lewandowski.
Frontman Lewandowski has of course seen his name dominate the headlines surrounding La Liga champions Barcelona over recent days.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the 37-year-old is facing up to an incoming spell on the sidelines.
After finding the net in Poland’s World Cup qualifying victory over Lithuania earlier this week, Lewandowski was put through an ensuing round of medical tests.
And as much revealed a hamstring injury, which could keep the veteran goalscorer on the treatment table for over a month.
One individual who ‘doesn’t understand’ how the injury in question was suffered, though, is the aforementioned Jan Urban.
Drawn on Lewandowski’s situation during an exchange with the media this week, Urban, in quotes cited by Diario Sport, admitted:
“I’m surprised by Robert’s injury. It’s true that he felt something, but for me, with a fibrillar tear it’s impossible to play. It doesn’t let you run at high speed, I don’t understand it. It is true that he felt something and we agreed with the doctor, Robert and I, that if he felt something, he would raise his hand and we would make the change. But I hold on without problems until the end.”
