Brentford defender Kristoffer Ajer scored his first Norway goal in almost two years to help his country pick up a 4-2 win against Israel in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying.

The 26-year-old made it 3-1 to the visitors on 65 minutes with a composed finish on Tuesday evening.

He controlled Sander Berge's cross from the left wing after the hosts had cleared a corner before coolly tucking the ball into the bottom corner.

David Møller Wolfe, Alexander Sørloth and Erling Haaland were also on the scoresheet for Norway, who sit top of Group I having won their first two games.

Ajer, whose previous goal for his nation came in an international friendly 6-0 defeat of Jordan in September 2023, also played the full 90 minutes in Saturday's 5-0 victory in Moldova.

Bryan Mbeumo was also on target on Tuesday, netting Cameroon's second goal in a 3-1 home success against Libya in the African qualifying for next summer's World Cup.

It was a trademark finish from the Bees forward, who picked up the ball on the right wing before cutting inside onto his left foot and finding the bottom corner.

Mbeumo also contributed the assist for Cameroon's third goal, pulling back from the byline for Vincent Aboubakar to pass into the back of the net.

Also in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying, Yoane Wissa started in DR Congo's 2-0 win against Mauritania, with goals from Charles Pickel and Fiston Mayele securing the three points for the Leopards.

Marley Tavaziva was on the bench for Zimbabwe in their 1-1 draw at Nigeria. Washington Arubi was in goal for the away side, who picked up a point courtesy of Tawanda Chirewa's late equaliser.

It was a successful international break for Ethan Pinnock and Jamaica, who qualified for this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup with a 4-1 aggregate victory against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Having drawn 1-1 on Friday in the first leg, the defender played another full 90 minutes to help his nation win 3-0 in Kingston.

Hosted in Canada and the United States, the Gold Cup will begin on 14 June.

Yunus Emre Konak was introduced from the bench on 82 minutes for his second appearance of the international break as Turkey Under-21s lost 3-2 at home to Belarus on Tuesday evening.

Brentford B midfielder Conor McManus enjoyed a memorable debut for Republic of Ireland U21s on Monday evening, scoring a brace of headers as they beat Hungary 3-1.

Both of his goals came in the space of four minutes late in the second half after Mason Melia - who became the youngest scorer for the country at that age group - had seen his opener from the penalty spot cancelled out by Gábor Jurek.

Finally, Julian Eyestone was not involved as USA U20s drew 1-1 against Japan on Monday afternoon in Benidorm.
