International duty for Inter’s players has now ended. The last to feature was Lautaro Martinez, who started Argentina’s final match in the CONMEBOL qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
La Albiceleste were beaten 1–0 by Ecuador in Guayaquil, with Enner Valencia scoring the winning goal. It was a defeat of no consequence for Lionel Scaloni’s side, who had long since secured qualification for next summer's tournament. Lautaro started the game and played 63 minutes before being replaced by Julián Álvarez. Argentina finished top of the qualifying group with 38 points, nine clear of Ecuador in second place.
On Tuesday evening, France beat Iceland 2–1 at home thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappé and Bradley Barcola. The victory sees Les Bleus lead Group D outright with six points. Marcus Thuram started the match and played 70 minutes.
