A memorable night for Lautaro Martinez, who continues to climb the ranks in the history of the Argentina national team. In Cordoba, La Albiceleste played the first of three friendlies scheduled during this international break, with the Nerazzurri captain getting on the scoresheet in a convincing 4-0 win over Bolivia. El Toro opened the scoring in the 19th minute of the first half. After MacAllister intelligently extended a through ball, Lautaro timed his run on the edge of the offside line and controlled the ball just outside the area. After wrong-footing the defenders with a couple of feints, he fired a low right-footed shot into the bottom corner to Viscarra’s right.

It was a special goal, moving him level with Sergio Aguero in third place on Argentina’s all-time goalscoring list with 41 goals, a milestone he reached in 85 appearances. Only Batistuta (55) and Messi (125) are now ahead of Lautaro. Scaloni’s other goals were scored by Nico Paz, Cristian Romero and Juan Lopez. Argentina will return to action on the night between Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October, when they face Burkina Faso.
