Inter beat Lazio 2-0 to win the Coppa Italia at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday evening, and the occasion coincided with a brief delay at the neighbouring Italian Open.
An Adam Marusic own goal, followed by a first-half strike from captain Lautaro Martinez, delivered the trophy. It was Inter’s second win over Lazio in a week and completed a domestic double after the recent confirmation of their 2025-26 Serie A title.
The Olimpico sits within the Foro Italico complex, which also hosts the tournament. According to Football Italia, smoke from flares and other pyrotechnics during Lazio v Inter drifted into the Stadio Centrale.
At the same time, Rafael Jodar faced Luciano Darderi in a men’s quarter-final on centre court. Shortly after the first set ended, the arena became clouded and play was halted for several minutes.
Limited visibility and minor glitches in the electronic scoring system prompted the stoppage before action resumed.
