Her Game Too
The Sunday fixture at Portman Road is part of a wider initiative by Ipswich Town to help improve the visibility of women in sport and inspire young girls across the local community. Since partnering with Her Game Too in 2022, the club has integrated the campaign into both its men’s and women’s football operations, doing community outreach through its Foundation and promoting visibility on matchdays.
“Maddie Reader, the Club’s Ambassador since we partnered with Her Game Too back in 2022, has been a big influence in promoting the women’s game,” the club said. Reader will be joined by Sophie Peskett, a winger for Ipswich Town Women, to speak pitchside at half-time about the progress and purpose of the partnership.
Visibility will be central throughout the day. There will be Her Game Too branding across pitchside LED boards and the stadium’s big screen, a dedicated photo board in the FanZone, and a special display at the SLO hub.
Members of Ipswich Town Women, including Maria Boswell, Charlotte Fleming, Natalia Negri and Kyra Robertson, will also take part in pre-match activities, appearing on the TownTV Matchday Preview Live show and engaging directly with supporters in the FanZone.
The fixture is not the only one being used to champion the cause. Ipswich Town Women’s FAWNL Southern Premier Division match against Cheltenham Town on 27 April will also be dedicated to Her Game Too, featuring similar activities and promotions.
With Arsenal bringing a global fanbase and media attention, the club’s decision to use the match to demonstrate values of inclusion and equality sends a clear message: football is for everyone.
While many clubs across English football, including Liverpool and Everton, have signed up to the campaign, Arsenal do not seem to be one of them. Yet. You can contact them here to ask why not.
