Ipswich ‘submit’ second bid for Exequiel Palacios as Leverkusen hold firm | OneFootball

Ipswich Town have submitted a second bid for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Exequiel Palacios, after a €20m opening offer was rejected last week. The newly promoted Premier League club are pressing ahead for the 27-year-old Argentina international.

Kicker reports the new proposal is only a marginal improvement on their first. Fabrizio Romano adds that talks remain active and Ipswich are optimistic about getting the deal done.

Earlier in the summer he was said to prefer a move to one of England’s established top clubs, and he has lowered his financial demands to ease a Premier League switch.

Leverkusen are understood to want around €40m, reflecting his importance and contract position. Palacios extended his deal to 2030 last autumn, limiting any leverage on the club.

Any sale would leave head coach Carles Martínez to rework a midfield already in flux. A 2026/27 tactical preview from the same outlet projected Palacios as a likely starter in the centre, and Leverkusen have turned away repeated approaches.
