Ipswich Town agree £20m deal for Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu | OneFootball

Ipswich Town have verbally agreed a deal worth around £20 million to sign Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The newly promoted Premier League club hopes to complete the transfer in time for their pre-season training camp in Spain.

The Ghana international is now awaiting a medical, which is expected to take place next week, before the move can be finalised.

Ipswich are keen to have Fatawu available for part of their preparations in La Manga, where they will continue building towards their Premier League return.

The squad departs for Spain on Monday, but the club remain optimistic the winger will link up with his new teammates during the camp.

Fatawu arrives after an impressive Championship campaign in which he registered nine goals and seven assists across 44 league appearances.

His pace, creativity and direct style made him one of the division’s standout attacking players, convincing Ipswich to shell out big money to sign him.

The Tractor Boys are also on the verge of completing a move for Dutch goalkeeper Kayne Oevlen from FC Volendam.

The 22-year-old is set to join in a deal worth up to £4.25 million, made up of an initial £3.4m with a further £850,000 in performance-related add-ons.

Oevlen is undergoing his medical before signing a five-year contract.

Ipswich hope the young goalkeeper will also be able to join the squad in La Manga once the formalities are completed.

Oevlen is viewed as a long-term project rather than an immediate first-choice goalkeeper.

Ipswich have been busy in the summer transfer window, signing forwards Emerson from Toulouse and Chuba Akpom from Ajax. Centre-half Cedric Kipre has also joined the club.
