The Tractor Boys have the young forward on their list in case they lose their number nine.

Sheffield United forward Ryan One is being eyed by Ipswich Town as a potential option to go for in case they lose Liam Delap this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

A heavy amount of interest is being shown in Delap by clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United, with £30 million being the reported release clause in the ex-Hull City striker's contract if Ipswich are relegated. If they manage to somehow survive the drop, that number will stay at its current mark of £40 million.

The 22-year-old has surprised many in his debut Premier League season. He's netted 12 goals so far in the campaign for the struggling Tractor Boys - 50% more goals than he achieved last time out in the Championship for the Tigers.

If he does leave Portman Road this summer, Town will make a healthy profit on their investment, acquiring him in a deal that was said to be worth £20 million from Manchester City, who have both a buy-back clause and a 20% sell-on fee, according to the BBC.

The chances of Ipswich going down at this stage are high, so measures are in place in case they do lose their talisman, with One being one of the options that Kieran McKenna's side have looked at to replace Delap, as per Romano.

The 18-year-old Scotsman, who represents his country at the under-21 level, is a highly-rated prospect. He has only played 11 league games for the Blades this season, scoring once against Bristol City.

He moved to Bramall Lane from Hamilton Academical for an undisclosed fee two summers ago, just a couple of months on from his 17th birthday. Rather than being with the club's youth development sides, he has found a place in Chris Wilder's first-team squad on a fairly regular basis this campaign.

His very short track record doesn't scream of someone who could step into Delap's shoes for Ipswich, but neither did Delap's before he found form in the top flight.

Sheffield United can hold out for big money from One

Ipswich may end up coming back down to the second tier with their tail between their legs, but they won't be coming back short of cash. Their year in the Premier League will have given their wallet a big boost, something that the Blades will be all too familiar with given their yo-yoing between the two divisions.
