Massimo Luongo remains a doubt for Ipswich Town ahead of their game against Arsenal, with a number of other players missing through injury and suspension.

On top of five other absentees, Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna suggested in his pre-Arsenal press conference that his team could be without Massimo Luongo once again for the visit to the Emirates Stadium.

Luongo hasn’t feature in an Ipswich squad since November, and McKenna explained that he remains a doubt through illness.

“Massimo [Luongo] has been ill over the last week or two so we have to assess how he is as well,” McKenna revealed.

One player who will certainly be missing on Friday is Sam Morsy, who picked up a yellow-card suspension by receiving his fifth Premier League booking of the season against Newcastle United last weekend.

Morsy had started 16 of his team’s 17 Premier League games this season, playing all but five minutes of those matches. They’ll now have to adapt in his absence.

“It was good to get Kalvin [Phillips] on the pitch in the second half of the Newcastle game,” McKenna said on possible replacements for Morsy. “That was important, he is still working his way back. Jack [Taylor] had a good game against Bournemouth.

“Neither are necessarily like for like replacements for Sam but they can hopefully bring their own strengths to it.”

On the other side of things, Ipswich top scorer Liam Delap has just served a one-game ban, and he’ll be back in the squad against Arsenal.

Elsewhere for Ipswich, Chiedozie Ogbene, George Hirst, Janoi Donacien, and Axel Tuanzebe are all currently expected to miss the Arsenal game through injury. McKenna made no suggestion that any of the four were set to return in time.
