This comes from a report by East Anglian Times reporter Stuart Watson, as the Ipswich boss provided the injury update following their 2-0 victory over Bristol City last night.

Another three points, this time over the Robins, means the club has secured four straight wins and are unbeaten in their last six league outings, with the Suffolk-based outfit going on a fabulous run to break into the top two.

They do sit second after their latest victory, but Middlesbrough could recapture that spot this evening when they travel to the Bet365 Stadium to face Stoke City.

Another huge clash awaits Ipswich this coming weekend, travelling to the Steel City to face a Sheffield United side who will have aspirations of getting themselves involved in the mix for the play-offs before the season is out.

It’s never a comfortable afternoon when facing off against a Chris Wilder outfit, and Ipswich will be wary of the threats they pose as they will aim to bring the Tractor Boys’ extended run of good form to an end.

It will be an even tougher task with the latest injury news too, with McKenna revealing worrying updates on Jaden Philogene and Marcelino Nunez.

As reported by East Anglian Times writer Stuart Watson, Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna was speaking after their 2-0 victory over Bristol City, confirming Jaden Philogene and Marcelino Nunez are expected to miss the trip to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United this weekend.

Philogene limped off in last weekend’s 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers while Nunez was forced off in the second half against the Robins.

On Philogene, McKenna said: "He's had a scan today. It's thankfully not a long-term injury, without putting a timescale on it because he's still sort of being assessed.

"It's not a very, very serious injury, a very long-term injury. It will be a day-by-day assessment. I would have thought Saturday (at Sheffield United) would be a challenge, but beyond that, the games after that, we just have to take it day-by-day and see how he recovers."

On Nunez, McKenna added: "He's felt something in his ankle. I'm not sure whether it was a twist or a knock. We'll see how he is."

Ipswich Town will be concerned having two first-team assets out of important Sheffield United meeting

While Ipswich Town will go into their clash at Bramall Lane brimming with confidence, they will be hurt by having two major first-team assets missing in the Steel City.

Jaden Philogene has been a livewire out wide for the Tractor Boys, getting into double figures for goals in all competitions and always able to create something out of nothing, using his electric pace and clinical eye for goal.

Meanwhile, after betraying the Canaries to move to Portman Road, Nunez has broken into the starting XI, with his performances playing a major part in their upturn in form.

The Chilean has started Ipswich’s last 12 Championship games, contributing one goal and seven assists, so his attacking spark will be sorely missed if he is indeed ruled out against Sheffield United.

It will be a massive test for Ipswich to overcome, and it will certainly prove their promotion credentials if they can go to Bramall Lane weakened and still come out on top.

The longer the season goes on, the more you feel Ipswich are the favourites to secure their place inside the top two, with the Tractor Boys hitting their stride and looking unstoppable at the moment.
