This is according to The Times, who also believe that other teams remain in the race for the 23-year-old's signature at this stage.

The Tractor Boys have enjoyed a productive summer transfer window, with plenty of top-quality players arriving at Portman Road since the end of last season.

Omari Hutchinson, Ben Johnson, Jacob Greaves, Liam Delap, Aro Muric, Conor Townsend and Sammie Szmodics have all made permanent moves to Suffolk - and Kalvin Phillips and Jens Cajuste have joined on loan.

Armando Broja looks set to follow these players into Portman Road, with a move imminent.

These signings have been much-needed, with Kieran McKenna needing the chance to add a sufficient amount of quality to his squad to give his team the best chance of remaining in the Premier League for more than one season.

They already look to have a fairly strong squad as we approach the latter stages of the summer transfer window, but there are a couple of areas that may need to be addressed in the next week.

The striker area needed another addition and they look set to strengthen this area with the arrival of Broja imminent - and the wing area also needs to be looked at.

Wes Burns, Marcus Harness, Hutchinson and Nathan Broadhead can all operate in this area when fit, but the injection of more quality into this area could make a real difference for them.

And it looks as though they could use the Championship market once again to secure a deal.

Jack Clarke is the subject of major interest as Ipswich Town submit bid

The Times believe that Ipswich have submitted an offer that would see them make a £15m down payment for the wide player - and Sky Sports believe that Regis Le Bris' side are considering the offer this morning - with the Tractor Boys pushing the hardest for him.

Add-ons included in this offer take the total bid nearer to £20m, which is the Black Cats' valuation of their star man.

With this bid being launched, the Tractor Boys may be in pole position to get a deal over the line.

But they aren't alone in taking an interest in the player, with Southampton reportedly still keeping an eye on Clarke, having had a bid rejected.

AFC Bournemouth and Leeds United are thought to be other sides, but it's unclear whether they will try and make an offer for the ex-Spurs man, who has been brilliant since his permanent move to the Stadium of Light and was lethal in front of goal last term.

Jack Clarke could have a big role to play at Ipswich Town

Clarke is a very talented player and if Ipswich are willing to spend £15m or more for him, it would be difficult to see him not playing regularly.

In terms of their existing wing options, Burns and Hutchinson could keep him out of the first 11.

However, the Black Cats' man will surely be confident of securing a starting spot sooner rather than later.

He could potentially come in to replace Burns - and if Clarke starts regularly - he could become even more financially valuable.
